2008 Shakedown Cruise

PNW Marine Trawler Owners Association
Shakedown Cruise 2008

Coordinator: Greg and Tina Tyler, (503) 930-6472, gttyler@comcast.net

What and Why: A cruise by PNW MTOA members to the Pt Ludlow. We thought it would be a good idea to check out our boats after a long cold winter, talk about where we’ve been and what we’ve been doing, and reconnect with our friends!

When: June 6-8, 2008.

Destination: Point Ludlow, Washington.

Please let us know by April 1, 2008 if you can attend as this really helps us out with planning and logistics.

Schedule of events: Friday, at 4 pm, there will be an informal potluck snack and cocktail party. Saturday evening there will be a no-host dinner at the Harbormaster Restaurant. It’s nice and reasonable priced for other meals, if you desire. There is another restaurant within walking distance of the head of the dock. There are walking, golfing, and kayaking opportunities nearby. There will be no formal MTOA meeting.

What to bring: Your favorite beverages and snacks for the Friday evening snack and cocktail party.

Contact: Port Ludlow Marina: (360) 437-0513. It is each skipper’s responsibility to handle their own reservations with the marina. The Coordinators will be in touch with the marina well in advance of this event to advise them of the approximate number of incoming boats. They have already set aside the end tie of the guest dock for our group. If we need more space, they will try to provide it to us in such a way that we are together as a group.

Please post this flyer at your marina and let folks know they are welcome to join us and take a look at our group!

Backup plan: In the event that winds and tides make boat passage unsafe or difficult, events will be moved into a nearby meeting room or the restaurant. There is lodging available in the area, including Port Townsend nearby. More information will be sent by the sponsors in advance. We will conference with known attendees just before the event.
Hope to see all of you there! Further information will be sent out as April approaches

Hello all Pacific Northwest MTOA Members!
2008
is going to be GREAT!!!!

Now that the holidays are over and we have our sights on the year ahead, let’s all take a good look at what is coming up this year.

We have the pleasure of a really cool blog, created and maintained by Tina Tyler. The address is http://www.pnwmtoa.blogspot.com. This shows all the calendar information on our 2008 plans, plus write ups and photos from the events of the past. Please take a moment and check out our ‘electronic bulletin board.’

Speaking of plans for this year, let’s take a moment and talk about them….

We have the luncheon gathering at the home of Leo and Sherry Glahn on February 16th. This will be a fun event, with an opportunity for reconnections between all of our members after the holidays and during the quiet winter months.

Greg and Tina Tyler are planning a MTOA weekend cruise to Port Ludlow. This is set for June 6 – 8, 2008. The marina has no conflicts with these dates and is awaiting our arrival. The facilities are very good, and they have a restaurant that serves some pretty good food. There are hotel facilities on site for those who don’t want to cruise in. Greg Tyler will send out an email flyer when the plans are finalized. We ask your support in spreading the word at your local marinas and amongst your boating friends.

August 15 – 17, 2008 we will have our annual rendezvous at Port Orchard. Co-chairs Dale and Jania Johnson have been working hard with the Tylers on the plans for that weekend. This is our third year at this marina. It will be a good time, and more details, flyers, and registration information will be coming out in the next month or two. Again, invite a friend to join us and ‘test’ the water of our fun little group.

As a reminder, last year we had a luncheon at the Clearwater Casino, a brunch in Edmonds, as well as the annual Port Orchard Rendevous. As always, the success of the club depends on your participation and assistance in making these events happen. We have great sponsors for these events and would like to see others step up too. So, if you have some ideas and want to coordinate an event – let folks know!

Check the blog for flyers and make some notes on your calendars!
